Yellow has unique lyrics and it seems that they mean something different to every person I ask.

Personally, I take it to mean that the person in question has the same qualities as the stars and of course yellow is the happiest most beautiful thing to me sometimes. The pure color of saffron takes me away. I love it that way.
@aviona That’s where I got the idea. :)
I don’t think he’s really going for your interpretations of what it means, but rather its meaningfulness to you. I could be wrong though.
To me, it has always made me sort of wistful. It describes a fantasy of mine. Well, a fantasy of almost everyone, I suppose. To have a perfect relationship. To have someone so perfect that the stars appear to shine for them. So it always gives me a feeling of sadness, and wishing. Sends me into fantasies.
But I’m a helpless romantic.
@lefteh Same here man helpless to the end.
@aviona I feel so exposed, don’t look!
@lefteh: If I was a boy, you’d have had me right there. ;)
Hopeless romanticism needs to make a comeback. Post-haste.
I couldn’t agree more. And I do my best.
To be brutally honest…it means to me that I need to change the radio station. I really really hate Coldplay.
However, an ex put it on a mix cd and I think she had a reason for that. I have never bothered to really listen to the lyrics. Despite my disdain for the band, you have got me wondering. Now i’m off to read too deeply into the lyrics of a song I don’t even like! Haha.
For me it all really comes down to this.
Aw, I love that song.
This is cheesy but, when my son was born he was very jaundiced. I would sing “Yellow” to him, because he was actually yellow and I just love him so much, and my world revolves around him. It seemed fitting.
Oh, and my mother says it reminds her of me. Not sure why. She also thinks Sweet Child of Mine reminds her of me…and that’s about a chick, I think.
About your son…that is ADORABLE.
My youth pastor used to sing that to his daughter. Yellow I mean.
That is incredibly, undeniably and horribly creepy.
When I was a Junior in high school, a boy in the year ahead of me died, and they played this song at his funeral.
I think YELLOW is just one of the Coldplay songs that has a deeper meaning to it.
I mean different interpretations varies, but its very poetic some sort. hahaha.. “I wrote a song for you, and it was called YELLOW”. I mean I guess he is so passionate about YELLOW.
I wonder how come he didnt mention, my favorite gelo is color yellow hahahaha..
To me, it means my goddamn roommate’s phone is ringing AGAIN. Fuck that song, and fuck that ringtone.
It means a lot to me. One night when my girlfriend and I were feeling a bit down it happened to be a full moon out, and we were talking on MSN and out of the blue she just said “Look at the stars.”
So I peer out the window and see one of the most amazing night skies I’ve seen in the past few years and the exact second I turn to look back at the screen she sent “Look how they shine for you.” I just kinda froze for a moment and call her on the phone to say that I loved her. I then took it outside and just lay in the grass looking up at them and talk to her for a few hours.
The reason it meant so much to me is because of the distance we have to deal with, we’re a couple states away and soon she’s moving to England with her family because her father got a job offer there. I don’t really know where I’m going with this but we go through a lot of stress and sort of ‘bleed ourselves dry’ for eachother. It fits both of us very well and is just a pretty song.
Coldplay ‘yellow’ means to me- happieness and hope. Stars shine yellow and we stare at them, and why do we do this? Because the color is hopeful, the color is complete. You need not add to it or take away. So the woman in the song to me was his yellow. He goes on to say “for you I bleed myself dry”, I think he means that he gives her all of him until there is nothing left.
Great answer and welcome to Fluther, @LLucance :)
