Can you send texts online?

You can text someone’s phone through AOL Instant Messenger. Just type in their 10-digit phone number rather than screen name.

i have been able to text through gmail lab’s feature known as sms texting, which allows u text to phones in the US—http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008/12/really-new-in-labs-this-time-sms-text.html

Skype can also send SMS, or you can just email the phone:

WARNING, I’m pretty sure that doing that bills the reciver.

I’ve tried several of the so called free services to text a friend in Canada and none of them actually worked.

if you just google the key words “free text” a bunch of different sites come up that do work.

i used to use them when i was living abroad to text the people at home (US numbers). it is harder to find ones that work for international numbers, but i’m sure they are out there.
