Did you see "KINGS" on television last night? What did you think of it?

I Tivo’d it, so no opinion yet.

No, but I did watch Castle for the first time last nite. And even though I’m a fan of Nathan Fillion, I won’t be making that mistake again.

Anyway, I thought Kings was AWESOME! I can’t believe no one watched it!

Okay, I watched it last night.

There’s a lot of backstory that needs to be filled in. The capital city, built by government mandate over the span of 20 years, but looking entirely lived-in? A war, apparently for the sake of war, less than 2 hours’ travel from this capital city? A monarchy with popular support—or at least anointing by butterfly?

It’s interesting, but I suspect (after The X-Files and Lost) that the writers are just throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks. If there is a backstory that explains all this, it could be an amazing series. If there isn’t (and this is my bet), it’s likely to be just writer-wankery that will bumble along until it gets cancelled.
