I have an old Rolex watch - how can I find where to sell it for the most money? would a jewler melt it? I believe its silver.

I would imagine you’d get more money for selling the watch than you’d get for the value of the metal. But finding someone to buy your old watch takes time or a low asking price. Still, it’s worth listing on Craigslist for a week while you get it appraised at whatever store is interested in buying it. Sorry I can’t recommend who these people are.

You need to have it appraised, first. If it is in good working condition, there are jewelers that will buy it to resale the watch. Also, you might find an estate jeweler that will consign the piece and take part of the profit – or they might offer you a price to buy it from you.

Depending on the type of Rolex watch, you can make a decent amount of profit from the sale; however, it needs to be in good condition and running.

Selling it for the metal alone, is probably not your best option. You will lose on the value of the name of the watch.

Rolexes are valuable for their craftsmanship more than for the silver in the case and band. You’re unlikely to get anywhere close to what it’s worth if you need cash immediately, because that gives people leverage to use against you in negotiations.

I would suggest visiting Rolex.com and finding a Rolex dealer near you. All Rolexes have serial numbers and as long as the time-piece you have is authentic, it would likely be worth much more than any value in the melted silver.

Have you looked on Ebay to see if anyone else has the same watch for sale and to see what price they are asking? Just to get a general idea of what you could ask.
