Do you have a weird phobia?
If you have the medical term put that too
I have a fear of being shocked by metal railings and door handles, is there a name for that?
Oh and what are some of the weirdest ones you know?

whispering.
well… its not so much a phobia as it just makes me gag.
like, actually gag.
i nearly throw up.
Phobia of general anesthesia.
Puppets. I hate them. They nauseate me. Jim Henson’s Muppets are ok for some reason. Muppets only. His other scary ass puppets from like “The Dark Crystal” and “Labyrinth…” disgusting.
I have a phobia that my car is going to catch on fire and blow up before I notice the engine is smoking, everyday I think there’s smoke coming from the engine but I’m just insane.
Dogs, they scare the holy crap out of me. I had to quit my delivery job because it was making me a nervous wreck. The thought of being bit by a strange dog at a delivery point would make my heart race and drive my anxiety levels through the roof, and I abso-fucking-lutely hated that feeling. Still do.
@evelyns_pet_zebra: That’s Cynophobia (I think)
@ubersiren: That’s Pupaphobia
@xxporkxsodaxx: I think that one is Hormephobia
I am terrified of Hippos; go figure! At least they don’t roam the streets of Maryland at will, so I feel safe.
Probably the strangest phobia, is Panphobia: Fear of everything!
@bythebay : I know! It’s horrible!
Panphobia? Like Pangea? Hmmm…
bythebay+Maryland=Annapolis? Baltimore?
Anything small and furry—mice, hamsters, rats.
something about cleaning toilets that freaks me out. it makes me want to throw up. i’m weird i guess.
I’m afraid of flags that are disproportionately large compared to their flag poles. And I really don’t like those flags that they hang on the sides of buildings. shudder. I think I’m pretty much the only person in the world who feels this way about big flags, so I created my own scientific name. It is a combination of the scientific name for a fear of large things and the fear of flags: megalobanderolophobia.
Fear of getting fat (adiposityphobia)
Fear of fundamentalists (pertinaciousphobia)
Fear of cockroaches (creepycrawlydisgustingcrunchyinsectophobia)
Fear of toenail fungus (onychomycosisphobia)—this keeps me from ever getting pedicures
Dentists, mainly the needle part. I’m terrified of dental pain. Local anesthesia like novacaine does not work on me. I’ve had quite a few dentists brush off my concerns, and then they’ve had to deal with me screaming and crying while they drill. I think it traumatizes them more than me.
Someone killing me, after hiding out behind the driver seat of my car. Apparently the move Urban Legends has stuck with me.
How about triskaidekaphobia? I don’t suffer from it, but I think it’s a cool phobia.
@daloon: Perhaps not so cool in a year like this! :)
@bythebay: because there would be so many opportunities for fear?
@daloon: Exactly. 2009 is a bad year for those with triskaidekaphobia. There are 3, Friday the 13ths to endure. There was one in February, one in March, and there will be another in November.
I don’t think there will be another year like this until 2020.
I’m afraid of 3-tined forks. I don’t know why, but they freak me out. Whenever I go out to eat with someone and I get a 3-tined fork, I make them trade with me because I can’t stop staring at the fork. I don’t know what the phobia name is…
Wood Utensils. They really creep me out for some reason. I think it would be considered Hylephobia. Ironically I love trees.
I used to have Allodoxaphobia which is the fear of other people’s opinions. Fluther has helped me quite a bit in overcoming this problem.
Phobophobia is the fear of phobias.
I’m afraid of large, flat, open places. Open water, desert-like places, large fields, etc. I get panicky, my heart pounds, and I must get somewhere where there are trees, buildings… some sort of structure.
OMG I have a fear of giant flags too, Les! I have always thought I was the only person on this planet that had this phobia with no name… Until I just read your comment!
