Money Saving Mom. This lady has it figured out! The best are her CVS and Walgreens weekly lists. I haven’t been keeping up with it lately, but one of my girlfriends goes to CVS and Walgreens all the time and spends literally like a dollar and gets all kinds of free stuff.
@essieness Thanks for the POST! That’s a great one I didn’t know about.
i present cooking demos for people who cannot cook. i also play for weddings and write papers for college people who cannot write. don’t tell nobody.
@SpatzieLover Oh, it’s literally amazing. She links you up with all the coupons for the week along with the deals at CVS and Walgreens. I read on her site somewhere that she is a stay at home mom with 2 kids and feeds her entire family on something like $40/week. You definitely have to keep up with it (clipping coupons every Sunday and making weekly shopping trips) but it’s SO worth it!!
@charliecompany34 You should help me with my papers. lol
I sell clothes and books, on ebay or amazon. Nothing too crazy.
I love money saving mom, she is brilliant and there are alot of other websites like hers, the wealth of knowledge is amazing.
I also started taking cash to the grocery store and that has been eye opening and very helpful in keeping to our budget.
I just ate dinner at IKEA. It was $3 for a plate of meatballs and potatoes. They also have $1 hot dogs and $1 breakfasts. It sure saves some money on food!
My husband and I both will trade professional services in exchange for something we need. He’s a mechanic and I do several things – from bookwork to establishing and maintaining databases. I also set up programs to follow inventory. Most recently, I started doing bookwork for someone and she is teaching my son to play guitar. I lost patience with him…I couldn’t do it!
It’s a great way to have some extras, without the cash leaving the account! :)
Coupons, rebates….coupons and rebates! My husband used to laugh at me, but when I started cutting down the grocery bill and also seeing rebates coming in and the cost of an item almost disappearing – well, he stopped complaining.
I don’t use frozen food or prepared food.
I don’t buy on impulse. I always think of the long term. I try to eat at home, so I don’t spend as much on lunch. Whenever I get money, I keep 30–40 for the week and put the rest i a box, and when that adds up, put that in my bank account. When I have 1000 dollars in the bank account, I put it in a GIC.
slickdeals.net – Like “Money Saving Mom”, they list the weekly shopping lists; but theirs include all the main grocery stores and drug stores (at least all the ones I’ve seen), plus they list online & in-store deals for just about everything. It’s a little weird to get used to at first, but it’s definitely worth it. We’ve saved TONS of money through deals we’ve found on there.
