Do you overthink? Do you hate it?

I’m an overthinker. I analyze everything, but ometimes, it can be a bad thing. It’s like a Spock thing where you have little to no impulse or emotional actions. So, sometimes I wish that I didn’t know as much.
How about you? Do you overanalyze? Or do you act on impulse?

I over analyze and then act on impulse.. xD yes.. gets me in trouble from time to time..
That’s your problem. You’re just too smart.
Yes. And very much so.
Just today I was pondering a partial lobotomy to fix this problem.
When I’m pissed and in the heat of the moment, I act on pure impulse and am very rash and stupid.
I have the worst of both worlds!
Guilty as charged.
I overthink things and also expand minor events until they take on a deeper meaning which usually is inaccurate
You know what, wait. Hm. Let me think that over again. Maybe I don’t….well. Actually…I’m not sure…Uh….
yes, it does lead to indecision sometimes. :( but i strongly disagree with the sentiment that it makes you any less human that you perhaps could not react as quickly as someone who was fortunate enough to think less. overthinking can be a curse and a blessing just like any human quality. :P everyone’s just different.
.. and yea, i think i do it. and i hate it often but i love it often too!
Both, it is both my best and my worst attribute.
I hate to over think, but cannot help i over think a lot.
i think i think just the right amount…at the moment
If anything I underthink. But it took me a long time to program myself to be this way. Prior I would overthink things a bit, but I realized that overthinking most things doesn’t lead to those things having a better outcome, so I stopped.
I often overthink and it can lead to some awful decisions. My boss actually tells me all the time, “You just don’t think sometimes.” It makes me itch to respond, “I thought about it so long I came to that wacky choice!”
I used to overthink all the time. Seriously, it was awful. It was socially stunting and cause for some terrible manic depressive moments.
Now I write journals. If I have something on my mind, I just write it out and then it ceases to exist in my brain. It’s all right there in front of me.
It’s what I would recommend.
@BobKerr That’s a good idea. Welcome to the Collective.
Much like somebody else said…I overanalyze and then act on impulse anyways. I can never shut my brain up ever. I tend to get really terrible insomnia as a result.
@augustlan I agree, sometimes, I think a mute button for my brain would be a good thing.
