Does a super light, super cheap typing instrument exist?

I want to bring something backpacking with me on which to record my thoughts. I know, I know, there’s this thing called pen and paper, but I am so used to typing that those things don’t really work for me.
What I am looking for is something that is like a notebook/laptop, super cheap, super limited capabilities (i don’t even care if it can get internet) and light enough to carry around. I suppose I could get a used Acer or something, but figured I’d check first.

Sellout.woot.com has an Asus EEE refurb today for $185. I think that would be the best bet here. It’s limited, but you can type and go online.
That’s what I love about my iPhone… when I want to remember something (like a gift idea), or if I want to write a journal entry, I can type it in my notes. I know it’s not ‘super cheap’ but because it is a phone, Internet, email, address book, calculator, entertainment center, to-do and calendar management (and whatever else you want it to be with downloadable applications), I feel it is totally worth it.
Sounds like the EEE is what you want. The iPhone is a bit too impractical for long amounts of quick fast typing… I sometimes write blog entries on it, but only when it’s my only option.
The one characteristic you want that prevents buying a used laptop for $20 is weight. Older laptops are heavy and have low battery life. This is why I recommend buying a new or refurb EEE.
If its something short i just use my cell phone to text my email. Otherwise id go with the EEE like mentioned above.
Wilderness backpacking will require some kind of solar charger, however.
