Hi Davey,
Is it audio and audio plus video that you’re trying to transmit from the computer/laptop? It would seem that the current Bluetooth specifcation (2.0) does have sufficient bandwidth for real-time video transmission, but I’m not sure if anyone has implemented it yet. A really long but thorough article about the concept can be found here:

However, if it’s audio streaming only that you’re planning on doing, Bluetooth audio is purportedly working now with OSX 10.5 Leopard, using A2DP (audio transmission- although I haven’t had a chance to try it out myself-I hear it’s still buggy).
I’m not sure on the audio-only bluetooth receiver, but here’s another interesting article on the future using Bluetooth 2.0 specification for high-bandwidth video:

I would imagine on the bluetooth audio receiver, there are several options out there (I haven’t looked into it myself). But here’s one off the top:

As for wireless transmission, one thing that is working for me (for audio only) is not going with Bluetooth, but with WiFi 802.11g wireless networking via the Airport Express (AirTunes). It allows you to wirelessly stream audio through a network (or by a single wifi connection with your laptop) and has an 1/8” audio out (you probably already know about this one):

I got one of these used for $60, and am using a software program called Airfoil, which extends wireless streaming of audio beyond iTunes (you can stream anything coming out of your Mac’s system audio output to the Airport Express):

Keep in mind that using that software there is a 5–10 second delay between what your computer is transmitting and the Airport Express is receiving (some sort of buffer in the WiFi?...)so I can stream audio but alas, not successful in video viewing (e.g. YouTube off the laptop-audio lags about 5–7 seconds behind the video).
Keep us posted on your progress on this project or if you find any other Bluetooth video streaming hardware (I’m curious too).
