Preferably without going through ben or andrew.
It’s not really a big deal, it just makes my fluther feel “unclean”

Known bug, fix is on the way. I believe that banned/quit users will no longer appear in “your Fluther” lists.
OOOOOOOO WHO GOT BANNED???
I’m so excited, I love gossip :D
@richardhenry: Cool. Just wondering.
I’ve been seeing the 404 error page a bit more often trying to figure this out. Oh well.
Whoa, why was he banned? Holy crap gossip.
It was discussed in the chat room discussion today, actually.
Man, I’m sad I missed that. He’s been saying for ages that he was getting banned, but it never happened….
@dverhey You used to be able to view user profiles even if the person was banned or had deleted their account, but that was recently changed. I think we could be using a less confusing message, perhaps something that says that the account was closed instead of simply “page not found”. I’ll mention that to Ben and Andrew.
@Elumas Low quality responses, off topic, fights with other users, a couple reasons. We tried to work it out with him several times (Devi spent half an hour in support chat with him at one point) but he didn’t really seem interested. If he ever came back and promised to try to get on with people and put in some effort, we would be happy to re-open his account.
@richardhenry: Yeah, he fought with me before. He never really did have anything positive to say. Good call, imho.
And remember that there is a lot of typed exchanged that isn’t public. A long time ago there was a guy who seemed kinda normal. But if you were female he would send you lewd private comments. He got the BanHammer.
edit :: I’m not saying the 90s kid did that. I’m just saying that there might be more to the story.
@TitsMcGhee Banning people is still hard and not fun. It sucks to get to the point where you have to say “You’re no longer invited to this Internet party of ours, that is really very awesome, if this was a real party we would totally have lots of nice drinks and a hot tub and naked chicks. Yes, that’s how good Fluther is. Have fun at home with your warm melon.”
I hate him. I’m guessing my last comment before I left sparked this? Anyone have all the details?
@richardhenry: I didn’t know you were telling people about me being naked! I thought my naked fluthering was a secret… But yeah, I can imagine that it’s not cool. Really, I’ve only encountered maybe three users who I think deserve banning.
I got a little pissed off about the whole “everybody hates me” thing, but I wish he could have realized there was a reason nobody liked him.
He kind of reminded me of a rude Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh
@dverhey: LOL4RL EEYORE. And yeah, I told him repeatedly to cheer the fuck up.
Unfortunately, Eeyore is great and has probably never been banned from an internet site…
Although I do feel a little bad about all of this. He is the same age as me…
Ahhh, 90s_kid got banned?? Awesome! His comments just got under my skin… Like, they were so nonsensical and absurd.
A few weeks ago, I was discussing him with another Fluther member, and she seemed to think that he was not actually a young kid. Yes, his answers were stupid, but as she said, there is a difference between someone who is naive and uninformed and someone who just has really strange ideas…
I really wish I had been around for this discussion. Why was he officially banned?
@dverhey You are the same age as Eeyore? Sweet.
Hah. Not exactly.
I am 14, the same “perceived age” of 90’s kid.
@dverhey: I never would’ve assumed that you were that young, just because of the way you you present yourself, whereas with 90s_kid, he had to CONSTANTLY remind everyone of his age. And if I had to see him give one more goddamn answer with “anything from the 90s!!!!!,” I might have puked.
I ain’t gonna lie. I squeed when he got banned. Like crazy.
@TitsMcGhee: Ha. Thank You!
All of that “anything from the 90’s shit” made him seem like a troll.
come to think of it, the more this gets discussed, the more he seems like just a really good troll
(Good at trolling, not fluthering)
lol, so what is the official word? On what grounds was he banned?
This also raises a few other interesting questions:
- What constitutes a troll?
– Is misrepresenting yourself on Fluther against the rules?
@dverhey: Oooooh, I overlooked that; thanks!
@TitsMcGhee: Too tired! Feel free to take ‘em if you want. :)
Seems like a good idea, but the troll question would probably be responded to with lots of links to wikipedia articles, LetMeGoogleThatForYou, and pictures of trolls.
It would be an amazing and very ironic thread.
@chyna surely I’m invited into that ‘hot tub full of men’ party, right?
As for 90s_kid, good riddance, he gave other young people on here a bad name. I don’t dislike all young people, just the annoying ones. :-)
I, for one, had high hopes for 90s_kid (being a fellow Bistonian and all), but he just couldn’t get out of his own way.
He’s just a young fourteen-year-old. He’ll grow up sooner or later.
Personally, I had no issues with him. He never gave me any shit when I would correct his behavior.
Has anyone else noticed a recent Fluther user who is annoying in the same way as 90s_kid? Ugh.
@girlofscience: I haven’t, but I wouldn’t post it here anyway, just because this user probably hasn’t been banned and could read this.
And annoy me to death for it
@dverhey: Yeah, I haven’t posted the name here for that reason. Some people have PMed me about it, and I have revealed the name there.
@girlofscience: Well, I’m not really that curious. I’m sort of new to fluther, so I really haven’t got into the gossip here.
Might the initials be SS?
@richardhenry well of course they are. It’s easier to outrun old people, and besides, I am sure I fit into that category from time to time. You see, I can read the thoughts of others on here, and if I had a dollar for every time I’ve picked up “oh shit, it’s that annoying EPZ chiming in again” well, I could take a three month leave of absence from my job and be on Fluther 24/7.
what would stop 90’s kid from creating a new account with a different email?
maybe…that would make sense, but if he were determined enough, he could disguise his IP address, or use a library to fluther…heh
