I have heard of this on a couple occasions, but forgot the name. Now that it’s come up again I have tried Googling to no avail. If you know a place to look online that’s also helpful.

Encopresis?
I had no idea there was such a thing… I googled for “disorder feces” and it was the first hit.
no… that seems quite different
It may be sign of another mental illness (like schizophrenia) or it may be a sexual fetish (which is called coprophilia).
Cophrophelia includes a lot more horrifying behavior than fingerpainting. “Sexual fetish” is a polite description.
Funny (odd, I guess), there’s a viral video that just hit in the last two weeks that delves deeply into that subject. It is so train wreck horrifying that it has spawned 50–100 or more “reaction videos,” which are solely the responses of folks watching the original feature. Seriously disgusting.
If you need to know, comment me.
I am trying to help someone in my community who’s dealing with this. I’m not clear on why the name of the disorder needs to be secretive.
I learned about this because some time ago there had been a person in my workplace who did this (regularly, at work), and people at the institution discussed it with us, in terms of a not-as-uncommon-as-you-might-think specific disorder. Now I’m trying to use that experience of learning about it to aid the current situation.
its probably a fault in the anal stage of Freudian psycho-sexual development.
If you are assisting someone in your community, may I suggest that you suggest that they look into cognative therapy (CT) or cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)? It is excellent for behavior modification and compulsive behaviors. Here’s a little bit more about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioural_therapy. Wherever you live, there should be experienced CBT practitioners.
“Janitors worst nightmare”
I can’t help with the clinical term for this affliction. But, this is more common than you would think. I was a janitor at a really busy movie theater for a few years and ran into to this behavior way too many times.
Sorry to ask, but are they actually defecating in public as well, or collecting it, then leaving it in a public place?
I searched DSM IV for defecation and couldn’t see anything other than the avoidance of it.
It is called “open defecation”. I think the key question is whether or not they wipe with tissue afterward…
