Is it alright to ask goofy questions here or is Fluther all business?

I like to ask irreverent questions occasionally. I hope not to be scorned for such behavior

I’m wondering this myself
@andrew Ok. That makes sense, but it does lead me to believe this place is (as I put it above) all business.
There’s plenty of goofiness, but it can get pretty tiring to see a whole bunch of useless questions.
People here tend to enjoy thinking and discussing.
So I guess it depends on your definition of “all business”
@boots Irreverence is great; all we ask is that an asker puts effort into their questions.
And has a thick skin in case, since you will get challenged on your irreverence by the community at large : )
@asmonet If there’s discussion of cake and zombies, then I think us wis.dmers will fit in very well :)
I would however like to point out the quality of those questions. Though frivolous answers abound and some subjects are on the quirky side, they’re well thought out and delivered.
Asking WTF CAKE? Or Who likes Zombies? would not have resulted in the same thread.
I’ll answer anything you ask :)
If it invites people to exercise their wit and their creativity, then quirk is great. If you’re just making a quick joke and there is really no interesting place to take the discussion, or the question is so open-ended that it might as well not exist for all the direction it gives, then take it to the chatroom.
If quirky/humorous answers were verboten here, I’d be screwed, and AC wouldn’t have half the lurve he carries around. In all things, of course, moderation.

I couldn’t resist. And for the ladies.
It’s guy humor
Fluther can be a goofy business sometimes but it’s always fun. You just kind of have to feel your way through it. Some people you should ask first, though, if your going to touch them. I get fondled alot but I’m used to it now.
@boots
I trust I answered your question above…or was that too serious?
@asmonet – “WTF CAKE?” Hahaha….
Better yet, search “pancake”. People pretend to be serious here, but sometimes they just can’t help themselves.
There is a phenomenon, rare though it is, called “drunken Fluthering”. It can produce amusing results.
I think a little goofy is just fine (balances all of this heartache/breakup/relationship/depression talk!). I don’t know, that’s a legit question I guess, but I wouldn’t call it serious business.
And if you ask common questions, the old timers will yell at you to search topics. So no “why is the sky blue?” genre. Also there are teachers and others who don’t want to do your homework. My personal peeve is newbies who ask 20 questions in the first week without answering any. The best way to get the feel of a place is to join the discussion rather than trying to lead it.
@fireside I just went to that discussion you linked. Those are the words I have been searching for…
