Does my AMEX support buyer protection?

Asked by Spargett (5398points) November 7th, 2007

I’ve read alot about AMEX being really cool about that kind of thing, such as refunds in the case of price drops (iPhone) and doubling a products warranty if its over $500. I have the Amex “Blue” card. Anyone know if I’m covered?

P.S. I don’t mean to seem lazy, I just loath getting on the phone with these people

To answer your question in short. Yes. Your Blue card has buyer protection, allowing you to return a product within 90 days of purchase and the merchant won’t take it back. AMEX will refund you the purchase price up to $300 per item, excluding shipping and handling, up to a maximum of $1000 annually per card account, if you purchased the item entirely with your eligible AMEX card.

I hope this Helps.

Just to follow up the Price Protection plan which you were referring to was discontinued back in November 2006, but in the case of the iPhone the return protection department was honoring the policy and refunding the $200 difference on a case by case basis. The Warranty extension policy is still in effect and applicable.

Another reference to the price protection policy being discontinued here

Thanks a ton for the answers. I couldn’t seem to get a straight answer from their site about anything but their stupid reward points.
