iPhone users, how do you feel about getting the mobile versions of the sites you visit?

I frequently get sent to the kids table when I browse sites in mobile Safari- Google, NYT, etc. While I do like the navigation better most of the time, I feel like I’m missing out on the Jobs promise of having the real Internet in my pocket. Thoughts? Is there a way to dial in the full page?

I like the iPhone versions personally. I suppose you could bookmark the full page and use that if you prefer it. Facebook, for example, has a link that allows you to go to the full version.
yeah most of them let you view the full page via link but the iPhone versions are better when on edge.
to clarify, I mean “mobile” versions such as those that are accessed by any mobile phone (i.e. the baby internet) as opposed to full fledged pages or pages designed for the iPhone.
@kevbo-I checked into google and there is a choice for “mobile” and “classic” at the bottom of the mobile version. I usually just type in the google bubble next to the URL box so I am not used to seeing the formal google entry page.
As for nytimes when I navigate to http://nytimes.com it loads the full page not the mobile home page. Anyone else have a different result?
My experience with most sites is they have the full site but also a link for iPhones…for example see iLounge.com
Provided it is possible to view the full version of the site, I don’t mind. This is supposed to be the “no longer watered down” version of the web, after all.
That said, it is often very useful to have a version of a site that doesn’t require zooming around.
I don’t want the WAP versions. I like iPhone sites as long as they’re nicely thought through (eg. Fluther!). I expect a link to the full site, or a separate url.
