I don’t think you can make that assumption about all prostitutes. It would be a pretty good survey study, though.

I’m sure some have, but then again some girls that work as bag girls at stop and shop have too. I don’t think that assumption can be made on such a broad spectrum.

Prostitution is sexual abuse.

There’s no thinking about it, there’s plenty of data.

@MrKnowItAll There are prostitutes that charge upwards of $10,000 a night. Do you think they feel abused? Or is it the poor schmuck who can only get laid by pulling out his wallet that’s being abused?

Of course the data is based on self reporting so that might be suspect. A woman who is ashamed of what she is doing may try to justify it by claiming sexual abuse while actually having been engaged in early sexual activity with boys her own age.

A more direct correlation may be with prostitution and girls who rebelled against parental authority or girls who did poorly in school or girls with low self esteem or girls who experiment with drugs. Any of these circumstabces can be present without any child abuse.

And women who may consider themselves successful prostitues ie not street girls, often claim it was a choice based on financial motives.

Some have, some haven’t.

Some are really just in it for the money. If you go by blogs alone, a lot of perfectly mentally healthy, non-abused cash-strapped college girls do it for the money and perks. According to a few of the blogs there is a market for college girls, but they have to actually be attending college.

It’s an interesting area of work all together.

Likely, but a lot of them do it because they want to, why I don’t know, probably money or attention. I knew some very smart women, grad students, health instructors, started as dancers and moved up the chain, so I was told to my surprise, for the fast money; they apparently could handle it, some even being married.

@ggirl There is a high rate of abuse and runaways but you are correct in your line of reasoning as well. The father /daughter relationship and self value factor more than anything.
