Are you the type of person that likes to live in different places?

Asked by FGS (1932points) March 24th, 2009

I have moved 8 times over the past 16 years…I’m pretty fed up with it and ready to stay in one spot for longer than 3 years at a pop.

I love to live in different places, but I’ve moved at least once a year in small moves for the past eight years (dorm rooms or apartment changes) and at least three times across (or halfway across) the friggin’ nation. So, I’m kind of ready to not move. ALAS, I am applying to graduate school—at least one of which is in another state. I don’t learn.

I really do love the new places, it’s just nice to have somewhere steady to go home to.

While I don’t think I would like to move as much as you describe, I am definitely ready for a change of scenery.

I have been in the same area my whole life (38 years) and while I have traveled extensively, I am really ready to call somewhere else home for a while.

GQ. My wife and I were just discussing this yesterday.

I rearrange my room every month. I need things to change.

@johnpowell Not so much a change in scenery but a relocation. New friends (if any), new house, new surroundings. I grow weary of having to rebuild a life over and over.

I get wanderlust still, and can’t stay in a place for years and years at a time. Hoping to relocate soon.

Ohhhh. I have lived in 20+ houses/apartments over my life. And that spans multiple countries.

I just moved to a new city a few months ago.

I like having a home base that I can come back to, but I do love travelling. Frankly, though, I want a change of home base. I want to live in London.

Yes, I would love to and plan to one day have a “homebase” from which to travel out from.

I have lived in the same house for 14 years now, it’s the longest amount of time that I have lived in one spot. I would love to move but we are waiting for our sons to finish school. I moved a lot when I was growing up. I lived in six different cities in four different states by the age of six, then after establishing ourselves in Vegas for most of my schooling, we moved when I was a junior in high school. It was a difficult transition to make and I would hate to put my children through that.

I would say that I used to enjoy living in different places, but at this point in my life, I am ready to move to that dream home in northern Wisconsin and live happily ever after.

I have mega wanderlust but now that I have a family I’d like to be settled and put down some roots. Unfortunately, just not where we’ve settled currently.

I don’t like to, but I have been accustomed to it, and now I’m just used to it and realize it’s benefits instead of it’s setbacks.
