Has anyone had a calcaneus stress fracture and still had pain while wearing a boot?

My brother broke his not too long ago. It was shattered so much, that they couldn’t even do surgery.
He wore the boot for I think 6–8 weeks. He was in pain for a while, even with the boot. They told him it would be a long, long recovery.
You’re still going to have some pain. The boot just takes some pressure off of it.
