How many fluther surges have there been now?
I know there is the current wave of Jellies from the Wis.dm mass exodus…
The massive influx from being featured on the Apple website…
The one before that (I can’t remember what prompted it, but that’s when I joined)
Any others?

There was an Askville exodus, too.
Other than that, I’m clueless.
All I can say is the surge is working and that the insurgents are in their death throes.
A website made a list of the top ten redesigned websites. Fluther was on the list. The story made it on the front page of digg.
The cake question made it on the front page of reddit.
Getting listed as the best social webapp on apple.com. (that was insane) And the reason why we have so many Mac users.
The askville thing was minor.
And now the influx of wis.dm users.
Wasn’t there a NY Times thing?
And I would like to give Bendrew a pat on the back for keeping the site fast and functional through all those. We might not have every feature, but the site is fast and works.
I forgot about that kevbo. And there was the Huffington post too.
@asmonet: Hooray!
I just found out recently, I was one of the Jellies quoted for the Huffington Post
so proud
I never saw it, but congratulations! That’s awesome!
@johnpowell Ah, I think I was directed here from the Digg effect. Never could remember…
In any case, It was the best thing to ever happen to me!
Kevbo, there were two NY Times mentions.
And the article in the Brown Alum. magazine.
What’s odd is I can’t remember how I initially heard about Fluther. Every time I try to recall it, there seems like a big blank space in my memory. Odd.
I think it’s the CIA again
Not to mention all the men’s room stalls I’ve written the web address on since I’ve been here.
I joined when I found the site on the SXSW Web Awards list. I use Picnik and Flickr, so going to vote for them led me here.
I was led here by a jellyfish. You weren’t?
I’d like to share what kevbo shared with us in another thread.
I thought for the most part we were being nice. Thanks for the link kevin.
With the AV16 we were a refuge for a group who had mistreated by another site (and their supporters). While some of were unsure about the actions that got them booted in the first place, we soon saw their willingness to fit in. Since they were so mad at the other site, they didn’t seem to miss it.
This new situation is different.I’m not sure how, but it is. Some folks are genuinely trying, but others are just bitching and have no desire to assimilate (to our ways, not beliefs).
I want this to work because bendrew wants this to work, but I feel like the jellies are trying and some wis kids aren’t.
Sorry Iain for the hijack.
@breedmitch That percentage for yes has gone up several points since this morning. Interesting.
I do see that now, too. Welcome to all the wis kids who are trying.
@breedmitch wow, thanks for the repost. Kevin’s quite the sleuth!... I’m pretty sure we have done nothing but welcome the wis kids with open arms. No one is being forced to stay here, so the level of animosity projected a select few of them seems (to me) extremely childish and disrespectful.
I’m empathetic to anyone who has been displaced. As someone with friends from New Orleans, I can tell you being forced from your home is not fun for anyone. But that’s why we must band together, be hospitable, and help a neighbor in need to overcome the surmounting odds. Jelly or not, you’re welcome with open arms. All we ask is that you treat us with the respect we have shown you.
Why, oh why did I dig around after looking at that link from Kevbo? [sigh]
