Do you think voodoo and other types of black magic are legit or are they against what you believe in?

I don’t believe in them but… it’s all about belief so if you do and I do then there’s a lot of energy we can mess each other up with.

Define “legit.” I think they’re irrational but I would say the same thing about any religion. I don’t think they should be illegal.

They go against what i believe in. By that i mean i believe in science….

Voodoo is a religion, so it is only as “legit” as the people who follow it. Its like asking if “chirstianity” is legit. Too legit to quit.

I think those are too seperate things. From what I understand Voodoo isn’t inherently bad.
A lot of these practices are just natural healing techniques. In fact most of us come from cultures with these type of belief systems. But modern medicine and science has made them seem “weird” or “phoney”.
I come from a culture that practices natural medicine but it is romanticized rather than criticized (native american). I think a lot of the “magic” is actual cultural traditions, natural/herbal medicines, and cultural customs/ceremony. Most of these things have a basis in science. Like ceremonies that honor the equinox. Or herbs such as willow that is now recognized as aspirin. We just need to understand where it is coming from and it won’t seem so “out-there”
I definitely believe in these types of medicine.
I also believe that “black magic” being “bad medicine” does exist. But you aren’t supposed to talk about it. And I think it is horrible for people to use medicine to hurt others or themselves.

They are as legit as any other beliefs people have. They are more colorful than some, and that’s in their favor. I hate belief systems that take themselves so seriously. They are soooo boring.

@Les and @ Qinqu: when i used the word “legit” i was referring to if you don’t believe it you wouldn’t be intimidated by it. if you believe it’s “legit” you may be intimidated by it. I believe it may have be “legit” so therefore, I keep away from it. Someone who thinks it’s a bunch of bull would not be scared by it.
