You’re assuming there was thinking involved.
Obviously she wasn’t thinking too much, but c’mon! Charging her with child pornography when the pictures were of herself? Registering as a sex offender?! Pardon me, but that’s just complete bullshit.
Do you think its fair that shes getting charged for child pornography? I mean that seems a little harsh to me, and if convicted she will have to be a registered sex offender for the rest of her life. Seems a little bit unfair for a 14 year old.
Talk about the punishment NOT fitting the crime ! It IS ridiculous.
It seems more like she’s being punished by the authorities (!!!) for being sexual than for committing an actual crime. This is where you tell the parents what she did and leave it up to them to handle it, not charge the girl and put her on a registry. The DA’s way out of line here.
Posting nude pictures of underage children should be illegal, no matter who posted it.
Even if they are their own pictures, it is still child pornography.
But I agree that registering her as sex offender is not right. She’s just made a poor choice, she is not a pedophile.
Children should be better educated about sex, moral, and their boundaries.
Here’s the thing: They call what she did “sexting” I think. But every teenager knows how to photoshop the head of one person onto the body of another. What if THIS is done? What if someone “photoshopped” the girl’s head onto a pic of a naked girl? What if SHE did it? Is it the same?
