If you had a superpower(to your liking), what would it be? Who would you tell first? And how do you think your life would get on with this power(your life as it stands)?

Please try to stay within the question objective. What would you change in your life, or others? How do you think you would feel if you had your ultimate ability?

I would want to fly. No matter how cliche it sounds. I have these dreams where I fly, have had them for years. It feels indescribably good. My alternate choice would be to have the empath power (to feel what other people feel).

Who would I tell first??? My hubby for sure.

I think my life would change completely. I am so stressed right now about the basics of life. Having enough money etc.. I think have a superpower would change that by giving me a different focus on life. I would be searching for how I got the power. I’d be testing it out. I’d be using it to benefit others. It would give life a whole nother meaning. And I would LOVE it. I just don’t see a negative, maybe that is being irrational but I just can’t imagine the negative at this point.

My super power would have something to do with water. I remember a science teacher of mine saying, “Water always wins. Look at the Grand Canyon.” So yeah, water would be my super power. Like shooting it from my veins or something bitchin’ like that. I mean really, think of it.

@gimmedat That is fantastic. Water is the source of life. We all need it to survive. It is very powerful :)

I have thought about this for a while. It’s a toss up between super-speed and invisibility. They both sound like fun. With invisibilty, there seems to be more of a chance to turn to the darkside.

With superspeed, I would definitly tell my best friend by sitting in front of him, then calling him from France 4 seconds later.

With invisibility, I’m not sure I would tell anyone.

I’m not sure how my life would change. With superspeed, assuming that I could do tasks fast as well and I could do these tasks without bursting into flames (from the friction), I would probably open up a fast food resturant and guarantee food in 10 seconds or less. With Invisibility, I would probably have to be a jewel theif.

I would have the ability to read at superspeed and not only comprehend every word.. but also gain muscle memory from each text I read… kinda like the matrix… I could read a martial arts book and instantly become a quadruple blackbelt… ahhh that would rule…

I’d tell no1.. they’d figure it out pretty quick I think.

I would, of course, use my powers for good and not evil.. get a cool mask.. beat up super-villains. If I had this super power I’d feel outstanding!

Ever since my kids have started watching Heroes they have debated which power would be the coolest. The two boys always pick the marionette. I’m good with that. Who wouldn’t like to control the actions of others?

aprilsimnel's avatar

I’d be like Dr Manhattan and manipulate atoms to whatever form I wanted.

How wouldn’t my life change if I could do that? I’m not sure I’d tell anyone, though. I wouldn’t want anyone to become afraid of me.

RedPowerLady's avatar

@gimmedat I love Heroes. LOL. Me and hubby debate which is the best all the time. No conclusions as of yet though. I don’t like the marionette though, that guy is creepy. And that power is too.

@aprilsimnel Exactly. “How wouldn’t my life change”

I would be able to communicate with animals. The first person I would tell is my dog Mackie. It would let me help animals by being their spokesperson.

@Marina ... Awww.. how cute!

I could only go with the unbeatable super brain: so powerful that I could visualize the equivalent of an entire living city, in every detail, down to it’s molecular activity. With this tool, I would solve every problem mankind has and, undoubtedly, this would unleash a new level problems, each time—a never ending cycle. I would be able to close my eyes and write an entire novel in a one sitting, and then remember it. But to save time, I would infix a super computer with my dome that would record, organize, and log, my every whim, to spare me the trouble.

I would never release an official statement on the aptitude of my power, but the population of the world would see me as a god (If I allowed them to). And in that way, I would become a slave to them, perhaps a lonely existence, but I would of course figure out a way to live happily.

I would like the power of healing.

I would travel the world healing the sick and inflicted.

I would like to have invisibility. Oh the practical jokes I could play, and those people that have wronged me, I’d have WAAAY too much fun making them think they were being haunted, or losing their minds.

Turning to the dark side would be too easy, but I’d enjoy every minute of it. I’m sure there is a moral to this, but damned if I can think of it.

RedPowerLady's avatar

@DrBill That is a good one!!! I’ve thought of that one too.

Knowing what the person in front of you is thinking. (A power similar to that of Mel Gibson’s in the movie “What women want”,).

janbb's avatar

This is pretty mundane but I would love to have the power to eat whatever I want and still maintain a thin body. I would enjoy life so much more that way!

Jack79's avatar

First I thought “mind reading”. But I’d prefer invisibility. That way I could sneak anywhere and listen in what people were saying. Something particularly useful right now. But even more useful would be to be able to just go in and free my daughter under their noses.

nebule's avatar

because i think that getting to the truth is of utmost importance it would have to be mind reading… but i think everyone should have this ability and then there would be no more lies… and therefore…happy days

fullOFuselessINFO's avatar

i already have one.
but i dont want to tell you people
because you would kill me
and harvest my brain for scientific purposes

and then probably use my body for that one person that asked the question about having sex with dead people.
...creepy.

My superpower would be a spaceship engine fueled by an ample supply of antimatter, allowing us to explore the wonderful galaxy around us.

AtSeDaEsEpPoAoSnA's avatar

You have no superpower, just an engine fueled by antimatter.

AtSeDaEsEpPoAoSnA's avatar

So you essentially didn’t answer the question correctly.

mattbrowne's avatar

Well, it seems important to you and that’s okay. To me the distinction is a detail. The “magical” creator of the “spaceship engine fueled by an ample supply of antimatter” could be seen as a superpower if this helps you in any way ;-)

AtSeDaEsEpPoAoSnA's avatar

I thought you might reiterate the response you gave, but if you are satisfied I’m satisfied.

Jeruba's avatar

I think I’d like to be the opposite of a mindreader, whatever that might be. I can’t imagine wanting to listen to the random junk in everybody’s minds. I would like to be able to selectively plant my own thoughts in the minds of others. Not all thoughts, not all minds—just some, at my option. I modestly think some things would go better and smoother and more logically that way. Also it would not be so hard to explain some things to my husband. Most stuff I swear I would just leave alone because I really don’t know any better than the next guy.

Samurai's avatar

I’d go with Immortality, but be able to kill myself.

Wouldn’t want to be on some cold planet for trillions of years.
