Does cream cheese icing work well with a chocolate cake? What other options exist for a chocolate cake, other than chocolate icing?

Icing with cream cheese is good on cupcakes and would taste the same on a cake.Martha Stewart probably has a recipe and good place to look for cake topping alternatives. Other options include, butter cream, whipped cream, cocoa powder (the non-baking kind), powdered sugar, etc.
Good Luck

Definitely! I like it! Another related recipe you see around is cream cheese brownies, where you make brownies, and make a cream cheese mixture and swirl in rivers of the sweet cream cheese before you bake it. SO great!
Is the cake home-made? Then a mocha icing (coffee and chocolate) is fabulous, darling.
Yum. I vote for cream cheese frosting.
It sounds delicious. That would work.
Cry of despair from me for cream cheese. How about this? It makes cake German choc.
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup butter
1 can (3 1/2 ounces) flaked coconut, or about 1 1/3 cups
1 cup chopped pecans
Make topping.
In a saucepan over medium heat, bring evaporated milk, brown sugar, and butter to a full boil; remove from heat. Stir in coconut and pecans. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
When cake is cool, place one layer on cake platter; spoon half of the coconut mixture onto the layer. Top with remaining cake layer and top with remaining topping.
If the cake was for me, I’d do that or the mocha icing in a heartbeat, but the girls who it’s for don’t like white chocolate, coconut or coffee.
Yes, cream cheese icing is ok for chocolate cake. (after all, red velvet cake is just a chocolate flavoured cake with red coloring. and it has cream cheese icing.) (btw. if you ever see a red velvet cake recipe without some sort of cocoa ingredient… run!) Hey! Why not make the girls red velvet cake!
i think its very yummy x3 i love both…^.^
