For me, it is Candiru the penis fish, closely followed by tapeworms, for their sheer size and ugliness.
Leeches on the other hand are nasty, but don’t freak me out half as much. So, what’s your phobia?

@TaoSan, stay out of the Amazon River, and you’re fine with the first one. I would have to go with lice. They’re such a pain in the ass to get rid of, both from your head, and from your household. Kids seem to get them from school a lot.
Guinea worm. Once ingested from contaminated water, the worm then grows to 2–3 feet in length over the course of a year, then attempts to emerge by chewing its way out of the victim’s leg. Because of the agonizing pain this produces, the victim often immerses the limb in water, which triggers the worm to release its thousands of eggs back into the water supply to begin the cycle anew. The emergence of the worm lasts several days.
someone is going 10k today :)
There’s the one in the congo that comes out through your skin. People wrap therm around pencils to pull them out. My nephew spent time in the Congo and was telling me about the dangers of swimming.
Harp beat me to it. Gross.
And there’s one that lives just in the skin, you’re supposed to put a steak on it to make it burrow out of you for air or something. I saw it on the Discovery Channel, some guy had it for like years and named it Bob or some shit. It was awesome.
oh oh oh I’ve seen that one!!!
GROSSSSSSSSSS!!!! The guy AND Bob I mean
Harp gets my lurve for best most gross parasite.
worm in foot or fish in penis….. tough call
naah, not really :)
@TaoSan Well, since I can’t get the fish in penis one….
Any parasite in my brain freaks me out.
Although I also found this, which is pretty gross, and NSFW.
@syz
think it’s real?
Looks a bit fabricated. No poop no nothing but a huge bunch of spaghetti :)
makes me wonder
@TaoSan
It does looked cleaned up – but I’ve seen animals that come in vomiting pure worms and pooping solid masses of worms. Disturbing to think of a child having that heavy a load.
The alien thingy in Alien.
@TheLoneMonk MRSA isn’t a parasite—just a staph aureus variant that is resistant to methicillin. It’s no more virulent than the regular staph infection. You just need to know that that’s what it is so you can pick a proper antibiotic.
dear lord, i should not have read this thread
Teehee, I gave you a parasite just now.
Enjoy.
