I know there are differences in some medical treatments on the each coast, and was wondering about this.

In all hip replacement surgeries there are similarities and there are differences. Alot depends on the pathology of the hip, the age of the patient, was it a fracture or was it elective, an on and on. It also depends on the technique the surgeon uses. The most widely used techique has been a lateral approach but recently some surgeons have begun using an anterolateral approach. Some replacements are cemented and some are non-cemented. Basically, there is no clear cut answer to your question.
Different doctors and different hospitals may perform surgeries differently, but there is no “east coast versus west coast method”. Discuss the questions you have with your doctor.
