Why can't I get better?
For the past about 3 weeks I have been very sick. I have been throwing up, had a fever, stuffy nose, and have had a really bad cough/hack. I have gone to the doctor at first they thought I had bronchitis and they prescribed a anti bacteria and some cough medicine… Then I had a relapse which they thought might be strep… But ended up being what they said was bronchitis again and prescribed penicilin… I am done with that and am still coughing and throwing up. Any advice?

Get a second opinion? Or at least go back to the doctor and tell them you are still sick.
Are you throwing up because you are coughing so hard? If so maybe the doc can come up with something to control the cough.
In addition to taking the meds as prescribed, have you been taking it easy so your body has time and energy to heal and defeat the invaders? If not, bed rest might be indicated.
The reason you can’t get better, yet, is because the doctor hasn’t discovered the real reason behind your symptoms. I had a skin disorder last year and it took over six months, including a severe allergic reaction to some medication before we finally discovered what it was.
It could be that you just have a strong bug and sometimes these things don’t clear up unless you take the time to really rest and recover. If you’ve taken antibiotics it’s more than likely a virus. Sometimes if you don’t get enough rest, your body will make you rest. I’ve had walking pneumonia and it sounds like you may have some of the symptoms if it’s deep in the lungs but that’s doubtful. But if you get that, you won’t even be able to get to the computer and you’ll pray for death.
Sorry to be so cheery:)
Get extra rest and drink tons of fluids. Don’t just get up when you think you’re pretty OK. Force yourself to rest and get plenty of sleep. I also had a strong hacking cough sinus headache, sore throat, tons of mucus etc for the past few weeks and it’s finally clearing up. Of course, I’m no doctor I just play one on T.V..
I get a bad case of bronchitis at least once a year, and have never been prescribed antibiotics for it. Mostly, I use an inhaler and usually end up getting a nebulizer treatment when the inhaler isn’t enough. I also take an expectorant, like Mucinex. It always seems to last several weeks to a month, for me.
From the Mayo Clinic:
Antibiotics don’t effectively treat most cases of bronchitis because the condition usually results from a viral infection. Instead, the following are the cornerstones of acute bronchitis treatment:
* Get plenty of rest.
* Drink extra liquids.
* Take a nonprescription cough medicine.
It’s best not to suppress a cough that brings up mucus, however, because coughing helps remove irritants from your lungs and air passages. If your cough is keeping you awake at night, use just enough cough medicine so that you can rest, but not enough to suppress your cough completely. There are several kinds of over-the-counter (OTC) cough medicines. Read their labels to figure out which is most likely to relieve the type of cough you have. If your cough is preventing you from sleeping, your doctor may recommend a prescription cough suppressant.
Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic if he or she suspects that you have a bacterial infection. If you have a chronic lung disorder or if you smoke, your doctor may also prescribe antibiotics to reduce your risk of a serious, secondary infection.
If you have asthma, your doctor may recommend an inhaler and other asthma medications to reduce inflammation and open narrowed passages in your lungs.
