A vision is a dream with a deadline - What is your favorite vision of the future?

Here’s a great example:

“And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

My vision is much more limited; I fully expect to live to see my oldest grandson’s grandkids and my youngest grandson’s children.

The end of the libertarian age and the rise of the deterministic age. :)

@ninjacolin – Why do you want the deterministic age to rise?

well, our entire history so far as far back as our oldest books and art.. are all based in libertarian (free will) ideology. i believe the notion of “free will” is a myth akin to “unicorns” or “wishing on a star.”

all fiction and politics and law are based on the idea that free will exists and matters. i believe that there is a clearer perspective available to us without that myth in a deterministic approach to society.

there are currently very few (if any) fictions or art pieces or anything created with a deterministic world view. it would be a whole new era of inspiration and creation. would be so interesting to witness such a revolution. would change.. everything, i imagine.

I’m going to be frank about this: Someday the entire world will collectively acknowledge that we’re all just trying to have a good time.

I like to think that someday war may become as unthinkable as slavery or cannibalism have become to us now.

@Harp – that sounds like a worthy goal that we should all work towards.
