Wow, so much for the “Please no rude answers”
@syz What is more rude? People coming to your country, having “anchor babies,” so they can leach off of your social welfare system and find the best way of milking your government for everything it’s worth?
Or telling people you’re displeased with this? Which is more rude?
That’s was i was thinking…
@TheIowaCynic Im not trying to be a victim here, my kids are US citizens you like it or not, We do pay our taxes as you do, and for those who doesn’t know how we do it, we have our ITIN number so that we can pay every year, I know that ost of the illegal people don’t pay, but i dont have to receive all the rude comments for that people, im not everyone.
@TheIowaCynic So based on a question on Fluther, you are qualified to be judge, jury and executioner?
no need to be an asshole @TheIowaCynic
@2late2be I really don’t see how it would affect it. I do not know for sure, but just because you use food stamps, it shouldn’t affect you becoming a citizen one day.
@asmonet Really? It doesn’t make you the LEAST bit sick that we’ve set up a system where women come here, spit out kids that are automatically citizens and then begin leeching of our social welfare system…......that’s just peachy Keen, huh? I mean, god forbid we hurt somebodies feelings….....GOD FORBID!
Buenos Noches America
If you are in America, there is no such thing as Food Stamps anymore. It’s now called Nutrition Assistance (like a debit card) if you’d like to craft future fishing-to-instigate-troll questions.
@asmonet If you have a job, why do you need food stamps? Why is that OK? What job do you have?
I grew up in a family that was poor at one point in time and we didn’t get food stamps. Wanna know why? It’s called integrity.
What if you invited a new guest into your house and immediately told you that you owed them food? How would that make you feel?
No, it doesn’t.
If someone is in need, I support every action to help.
A few abuses is no reason to scream at other participants in the system.
Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater and all.
Now if you excuse me, I have to go to class and deal with more civilized people, those capable of thought.
Please ignore TheIowaCynic. He is a full-blown Holocaust denier which, as I have already said, should deligitimize all other “opinions” he vomits out.
As to the actual question…no. If there is an amnesty policy someday (which seems possible), it will be exceedingly unlikely that parents will be punished for accepting food stamp benefits for their children. While that may sound like something politicians on the far right might push for, an amnesty (such as the one Ronald Reagan offered in the 80’s) will be based on time in country, not services used.

@casheroo Actually, there IS A NEED to be an asshole here. Let me tell you what is happening. Do you think in Mexico, they tolerate people Bolivia, coming to their country, having anchor babies and applying for food stamps? No they do not.
Americans need to start getting furiously angry about this kind of chicanery.
The mexican illegal immigrants see our goodness and kindess as WEAKNESS…...and it is
@asmonet Don’t waste your time getting angry with him. People like him and pekenoe, aren’t worth the effort.
I’m done here, 2late, I wish you the best, but I know if I stay, I’ll seriously lose my temper, far more than I already have, for that I apologize. I did not come here with the intention of helping TheIowaCynic derail your thread.
Again, I’m sorry.
@asmonet well that’s what food stamps are for. That is an example of why they were designed…....
Instead, they have become a magnet for people from Mexico, who realize they can come here and live better as welfare queens than they can in their own country as hard-working citizens
@syz What I have a right to be is a citizen who can get angry at what is going on around me. If citizens dont’ have the right to determine or have a say in who gets the franchise, they have no rights whatsoever.
This type of question is illuminating and should infuriate every American with a heartbeat.
@TheIowaCynic Food stamps help people in need. You need to qualify for them, through an extensive application process where they need all info on you except a rectal exam i suspect they’ll require that one day People on food stamps don’t bother me. Neither do people “abusing the system” I bet that really pisses you off.
Just to add some actual facts to this discussion (since TheIowaCynic seems to be unfamiliar with the concept)...
A family of four who makes $27,564 or less is eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (colloquially known as Food Stamps). Imagine a two parent, two child family. One parents works full time at federal minimum wage. The other parent works half time (so as to care for the children) at federal minimum wage. Guess what they make? $21,600.
@casheroo Our social welfare system…..our desire to be “Good,” and “generous,” and “kind,” to people has instead become a magnet for folks from other countries such as the author of this question, who realize they can live here better as welfare queens, than they can with actual jobs in their own country’s.
It is DRAWING needy people to the United States. Think that’s what we need? More impoverished folks here? We don’t have enough so we should create more lucrative social spending programs and offer them to anybody in the world slick enough to come here and drop a kid or two?
“Give me your poor, your tired, you huddling masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, the tempest-tost to me. I lift my lamp beside the Golden Door.”
@Michael damn right. I don’t know the answer to the question @2late2be but I doubt it should have any real impact. If your kids are American citizens then they are entitled to the same rights as all other American citizens and I don’t think you can be penalized for that.
Ignore the people with their asshole convictions. I think it’s good that you’re trying to do right by your kids. We had food stamps when we were kids because my parents were too young and I was an “accident” and they were struggling. People who think it’s just “that easy” to demand help and welfare should shut up. My mum regularly cites how degraded it made her feel to even have to ask for help, but she did it for the sake of her kids (which is what any good parent would do). I’ve said my bit and i’m leaving this thread. I am not interested in fighting with people. Good luck with your kids though.
@Michael That’s a very nice poem, written the bottom of the Statue of Liberty, that you have quoted. Thank you for that contribution. Thankfully, this isn’t a social policy of ours.
@asmonet No need to apologize, i knew this could happen. I Could say a lot more if i could make myself more clear, but i can’t.
@TheIowaCynic “Spit out kids”? Lovely choice of words as always, man.
And it’s ”Buenas noches”.
Moving on to the substance, I’d say it’s preposterous to punish children for what their parents did. Don’t like illegal immigrants, expel them and their children, but at least treat them humanely.
Has anyone on this thread taken a look at the types of fishing for personal information questions 2late2be has been asking on this site? Maybe you should.
@hungryhungryhortence
2late2be has been a member here for over a year. We know her far better than we know you. She’s never been anything but a positive element on this site.
@Harp I am giving my own personal opinion on what questions I found under that user’s profile name. That and they didn’t respond when I pointed out there is no such thing as Food Stamps. Usually, not responding to fact but responding to instigators instead means just a bunch a trolls together. I might be wrong here and if so, I’m fine with that.
@bob_ The point people are missing and that this author clearly illustrates, is that our social welfare system is DRAWING people to America. Also, our law that if you’re born here, you’re an American Citizen is being grotesquely abused.
Our social welfare system and our generosity with handing it out to people is DRAWING poor and impoverished people to America.
We have plenty of our own poor and impoverished people here. We don’t need anymore.
Immigrants who come here should, at the very least, be able to support themselves and their families before being given consideration for citizenship.
Doesn’t that make sense? Would you want Mexico to accept all of the people from South America who are poor and throw them onto your welfare roles?
[mod says] The question has been asked “as is”. If you don’t have a legitimate answer to the question, do not answer it. Future off topic or inflammatory comments will be removed.
@shilolo Is that a universal Shilolo? Is that the rule on every question or just on this one? Because if that’s a universal, there’s several dozen answers to my questions I’d like you to remove.
@shilolo I“m talking about completely “off topic” responses that people leave on my questions ALL THE TIME. Furthermore, this wasn’t a specific question, it was something of an open-ended statement. She was saying what she heard….....and put a question mark at the end.

@TheIowaCynic “can having the food stamps for my 2 citizen kids hurt me if someday theres an amnesty?”
Sounds like a direct question to me.
While, as you’ve said, we’re having an interest discussion, we’re not answering her question, which, as I understand, is the point of the site.

@2late2be Nobody can answer your question with some sort of certainty. We’d merely be speculating, as there currently isn’t any concrete plan being discussed.

@2late2be: I think I remember you saying English was your second language, I’m going to call my local welfare office and see if they have more info, what state are you in if you don’t mind me asking? And what is your current nationality? I might be able to get some more information for you. Everything I found on google seemed to indicate there was no direct complications between the two, but I want to be sure.
I’ll post here after I call tomorrow.
Or if you could PM me your current citizenship, the state you reside in, your legal status, and your future plans…that would help a bunch!
Still working on it, I wasn’t able to get a hold of anyone I knew there yet and I’m having some personal issues. I’ll keep trying and update here. :)
Okay, I called the office and spoke to one of the caseworkers there. She said she’d never heard of it being an issue for people who later applied for citizenship, she asked her supervisor just to check but neither of them thought it would be a problem. They suggested you speak to your local welfare office for specifics about the program in your state – not surprising.
It’s not much, but that’s all I got.
But if the US put into action any new program to allow aliens to stay legally, it’d be hard to pinpoint the points that would apply to you without it having been created yet.
Anyway, good luck. Sorry I couldn’t help more!
