Anyone else doing a full system scan today?
Stupid Conficker.
Or have Norton Antivirus, and the rest of the Internet security industry, made the most brilliant, underhanded, fear-mongering, sales pitch of all time?

Did it this weekend. Looks like I’m safe.
I used a free tool, so I’m not sure how it would help the anti-virus industry.
Did it using Norton. The one Microsoft offers requires IE and I don’t want to use IE.
@EmpressPixie…Maybe in your case but I’m pretty sure a lot of folks have purchased Internet security software based on the fear they’ve been sold.
probably the same bunch that have 6 or 7 seven cases of duct tape sitting in their garage
Nope. I use Disc Utility once a week on my Mac and sleep easy.
i don’t think we have any anti virus stuff on our computer :( i don’t know anything about it. don’t you only get viruses if you open things up with it?
@Casheroo: If you have a Windows machine, you can go to Microsoft.com. On the front page is an article about Conficker including their free tool you can download to scan your computer.
My system scans automatically & I have an excellent anti-virus program. I feel safe.
(Anyone else having trouble with things loading real s l o w today?)
The only thing norton and most of the other virus protection software out there will stop is “known” malware, viruses, and spyware. I recommend this type of software to the “novice” user. If you have further knowledge of computers, I would delete your AV software and use something like “hijack this”. These types of programs will let you see what is loaded in the registry. Then you can review and delete the needful. Please do not take this advice if you are a novice user because playing in the registry will result in having to format your hard drive and re-installing windows.
@EmpressPixie Thanks, I just ran a Windows Live Scan. 2 issues found and removed.
Thanks, guys. Glad to see it’s not just me. Maybe the server needs a scan, too!
