Is it too late to apply for a college transfer?

I waited for a while to figure out if this is something I really wanted to do and have come to decide it is the right thing for me to do.
Right now I’m concerned it may be too late. Is there anyone with any sort of knowledge on college transfers that could clarify whether or not I can get it to happen?

Generally speaking, this varies based on the institution you want to transfer into. And of course exceptions can always be made, so it’s generally best to contact the institution and do what they recommend.
Do you mean transferring for the summer semester, or for the September 2009 starting year?
It is probably too late to apply for Spring Term transfer. Probably not too late for Summer Term transfer (and that may be easier to do then trasfer for next Fall). Very debatable for Next Fall.
The best thing you can do is call the transfer college’s admissions department and simply ask. Most have 1–800s. You can also make good use of your current colleges academic advising department. They are usually a very fantastic help!
I should have been clear that this is for a Fall semester transfer. I’m hoping I’m not beat out by incoming high school students.
Thanks for the advice so far, I’ll be sure to look for numbers.
@EnzoX24 Many colleges will accept transfer students even if they have an overwhelming amount of incoming students. It might even be separate admission criteria.
Ah thank you. That makes me feel a lot better.
@EnzoX24 But do it soon because if they are full, then they are full.
Are you going in as a freshman, or will you have enough hours to be a sophomore? If you’re coming in as a freshman, then there might be a quota. If you’re coming in as a sophomore, then there’s more likelihood of transferring in because there are sophomores who aren’t coming back. The only thing that may be problematic is financial aid. You should call the university you want to transfer to tomorrow morning, and get as much paperwork as you can turned in by the end of the week. The reason why I say this, is that usually unallocated money frees up in April, once people start turning down scholarships because they’re going to a different school. If money or aid is not an issue, then you probably have until the end of April. But call the school and see what their transfer policy is for sure.
You should check the websites of the colleges you’re interested. They have all the information on transfer deadlines that you need. For transfers the deadlines vary widely. My friend is transferring and most of her deadlines were somewhere between February and March but there are some schools she is applying to that have theirs due in early April (mostly April 1st) and one of her deadlines is June 30th.
