Evelyn Glennie is pretty darned famous not only for her virtuosity, but also because she’s deaf.

@Harp thanks! She really sounds amazing :) and the site you gave is really informative, I’m going to have a lot to work with. I’m doing a paper on xylophones and marimbas and such.

Check out this amazing video
and good luck with the paper.

Wow, she is amazing now that I’ve actually heard her play. It’s beautiful and touching! An example for all of us. :)

I’m embarrassed to admit it, but that video actually brings tears to my eyes

Well, I guess technically, Lionel Hampton doesn’t count. He played the vibraphone.

@aprilsimnel – No, Lionel Hampton would definitely count because I’ll probably have to write about vibraphones too, thanks!

The most notable of British Xlophonists would be TEDDY BROWN. he was terriific , being able to play the instrument with four (4) sticks’ in each hand.
He was one of the largest men you ever saw but hewas so versatile and light on his feet.
If I remember correctly , not only did he appear on stage in Variety Theatres , but also on television as late as the 1970s.
