Has anyone ever came from civilized world to live rest of his/her life in Amazon or other wilderness because they like it better?

Christopher McCandless, who died at age 24 in August 1992 while exploring AK. For any interested, the book and movie based on his journey are both highly acclaimed and titled, Into the Wild.

I’d love to do it. Seriously. Just not at that point in my life yet.
If you think about it an a more typical sense many many people move from the city to the distant country.

I’ve been reading a book called Appointments at the Ends of the World: Memoirs of a Wildlife Veterinarian which has the stories of many people who did just that, primarily to protect the ecosystems and wildlife they had come to love.
