Isn't it great that the world (at least the industrialized nations) are responding so favorably to the Obamas?

Asked by Linda_Owl (7748points) April 1st, 2009

the refreshing reactions to both the President & the First Lady, are such a contrast to the contempt that most of the world felt for our last President.

It is. I await his 100 day speech with anticipation.

Very refreshing. Seeing a US president that various nations are willing to throw their support behind is an incredible breath of fresh air after Bush Jr.

He still worries me.

oratio's avatar

yeah? why so?

Russell_D_SpacePoet's avatar

@oratio Inexperience and Nancy Pelosi. I like Obama. I voted for him. I’m still on the fence.

I’m very happy with how the rest of the world is responding to the Obamas, but I’m not so happy with how many Americans are responding, sadly.

oratio's avatar

Yeah, but if any leader can bring people together, I would put my chips on Obama.

@Russell_D_SpacePoet I’m worried too.

I’m worried about any politician that has reached the position to run for president…

oratio's avatar

Ha ha, that is a good point. Probably the people most fit to be president are the ones who doesn’t want to.

Russell_D_SpacePoet's avatar

@boots Exactly. Any politician. To be president you have to make too many deals to get elected. When you do, then everyone who helped you get elected want their agenda pushed in front of everything else.

@oratio Excellent observation. My sentiments exactly.

So far, so great :)

Russell_D_SpacePoet's avatar

@jo_with_no_space A trillion dollar deficit doesn’t feel so great. Time will tell.

amanderveen's avatar

The deficit is hardly Obama’s fault, though. Sitting back and ignoring the recession isn’t going to keep things moving and save the country from complete failure.

Russell_D_SpacePoet's avatar

@amanderveen It is almost impossible to spend your way out of debt too. I never insinuated anything be ignored.

@oratio
That’s what Plato said.
