Can I get sound from 2 different apps on the same computer to come out of 2 different speakers?

Asked by MrMontpetit (1843points) April 1st, 2009

I have my speakers and sub woofer plugged into the ports on the back of the computer, and my headphone/mic plugged into the ports on the front of the computer. Is it possible to get sounds from skype to come through my headphones, but the sound/music from Windows Media Player to play through my speakers and sub woofer? I’ve done some searching and cant find anything, you’re my last resort, Fluther!

Probably not unless Skype supports it in the options. You could do it if you had multiple sound cards. Or you could get a USB Skype device.

You could but i think you would either need extra sound card or usb speakers or both!

Yeah I kinda figured I needed one of my two speakers to be USB, because when I go into my skype options the only option for sound there is my soundcard, and if I plug in my webcam (USB) another option for microphone pops up, titled “Camera” so I figure if I get a USB headset I might be able to.

Okay then really you didn’t need our help then.

Um, actually I did. I wanted to check if there was another option. I don’t think I asked for you to be rude.
