For example, one in the morning and one at night.
edit: It’s worded that way because of situations such as, “taking three pills twice daily”.
One pill at a time, two times a day. Or exactly as @whackyrusty said.
Not the same pill of course.

one pill every 12 hours… or one pill at a time, two times a day.
Take one now…..take one later. Understand?
The one comes out of a bottle full of other ones…:)
That means every 12 hours.
