If the site wis.dm didn't close after all, would wis.dm users go back?
On a surface level, the prevailing answer would seem to be “no”.

That’s a good question. As much as I enjoyed the freedoms there, most of the people I care about have already moved here. Plus I’ve already met lots of wonderful people here, and feel welcome.
Moreover, a little moderation, both self-moderation and the site’s moderators actions, are actually a good thing in the long run.
So I guess my answer would be; no.
Thanks for making me think it through for myself.
I don’t think I would go back to be honest (and if I did, I certainly wouldn’t stop coming here). I still find Fluther harder to get my head round because quite a few of my questions haven’t been up to guideline standards even when I have gone to great lengths to make them interesting enough but, despite that, I really like the atmosphere here.
@Leanne1986 – You know, I still haven’t asked a lot of questions, as a Fluther member. I worry about mine being too broad to fit the guidelines, as well. Not saying your questions are broad, I’m just with you on the guidelines. —Also, I alway seem to forget what I was going to ask!
It appears to me that fluther’s questions seem to be for the most part, basic or ‘superficial’ in nature compared to other sites I have seen. I find it difficult to get around on this site and I have been here now for a few months, guess I am not trying hard enough.
Another aspect of fluther that I don’t care for and has been discussed alot is that there isn’t any kind of ‘time stamp’ to know when someone has responded to a question or how old things are on here. So I am always ‘hesitating to make any comments unless I catch a ‘new question’.
I do like the idea there are live moderators though, that helps more than some other sites that don’t have any! But then it could have disadvantages also depending on the circumstances….just my feelings.
As a former wis.dmer….the answer is NO.
moderation is a good thing. It prevents the rampant flame wars and outright harassment.
It makes for a more pleasant atmosphere.
as a former wis.dmer, the answer is yes
I haven’t left there yet, I will be there until they slam the door on me. If they did decide to keep the place open I would most definitely stay there, but I might share a little of my time with fluther. ;)
