The Mask. Ok, maybe The Truman Show. There are so many.

The one that made me appreciate him as a talented actor was The Truman Show, but I have gotten used to his brand of comedy, and have gone back to enjoy his earlier ones. I didn’t especially like Mask.
The Mask, it was so entertaining at the time. Also, the Truman show left a big imprint. Basically your description :))))))
I feel like every time Jim Carey is brought up, Me, Myself & Irene also needs to be brought up. Also, I loved The Truman Show.
The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Mask.
In that order.
I liked Man on the Moon, The Truman Show, and I loved him in The Series of Unfortunate Events. He does seem to inhabit whatever role he takes on, but the goofy faces get to me after awhile.
@NaturalMineralWater I have to agree with this. I for some reason really enjoy him in a less comical role. Not to mention the non-linear method of story telling, making you constantly go, “Ah. So that’s what that was.”
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind was awesome, it was soo much different from the rest of his movies that he’s done. And after that I’d say The Truman Show would be a close second.
@naturalmineralwater and yes, it is a wacky movie, but an interesting concept.
Of the pones I have seen: The Truman Show. I have not seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind though.
He was absolutely great in Man on the Moon, his resemblances to Andy Kaufman at some points was uncanny. He was also great in The Truman Show. The Mask was also a classic at the time, although the sequels suck so hard!
Eternal Sunshine was his best movie, Ace Ventura (the first one) was hilarious. Then all his movies were basically the same movie over and over (the comedies) so I don’t like them.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Man on the Moon were his best because the filmmakers were able to surpress that Jerry Lewis goofiness he usually brings. Most of the time he is just annoying.
Eternal Sunshine is my favorite. But a very close second, and I can’t believe no one brought this up. Dumb and Dumber. I love that movie.
I want to throw in an honorable mention for The Majestic and Bruce Almighty.
But my vote would be Man in the Moon for acting and The Truman Show for overall movie.
Though Eternal Sunshine was a good one.
@lukiarobecheck Ugh I forgot Dumb and Dumber!
@Zen yeah it just seems like sometimes it’s the same act over and over.
@fireside I think you nailed it. @elijahsuicide It’s okay, to each his own. I know some people find him tiresome. Although most will agree that when he has a serious role, like in Man or Tru, he excels.
Personally, just as with music, when I really like a performer, I’ll forgive more, and enjoy the performance and not “look” so much with a critical “eye.” It’s like going to a concert of a favourite musician, and forgiving him the parts where he experiments or allows exotic (read: boring) solos. For me, it’s more about the experience. There, I’ve said it, the Jim Carrey experience.
