It’s why I decided I’m never buying a Persian rug either.
i never give to poor people.
Yes, there really are elements like that in India. And in any other place stricken with poverty I would imagine. A human can do unimaginable things when it comes to getting essential things like food.
well, thats why they take money from my paycheck every two weeks. taxes
@A_Beaverhausen Your taxes do not take care of the poor people. A very small portion of your taxes goes to help with Medicaid, unemployment etc. The biggest part goes to other things such as building/maintaining roads, bridges, space projects, etc.
check your facts.

God Bless Prez Roosevelt.
yes, and not just India, though this is not something that happens on a wide scale (as opposed to child prostitution in Thailand for example).
Something to note about the film is that the two brothers are Muslims, not Hindus, which explains why they are in an even worse position than most other Indians, as well as the scene with the attacks on the slums. Think of the racial conlficts in the US as an analogy (and some black kid from Kenya becoming President or something).
The homeless don’t receive social security checks.
I believe so. It is quite sad. My hubby’s best friend has a serious g/f from India. And she said that where she grew up is even worse than what is portrayed in the movie. That was a Fantastic Movie!
