What we call ‘hangovers’ are actually over-dehydration. The alcohol consumed on the previous night is usually the culprit behind such rapid and pervasive dehydration. The symptoms of your dehydration are manifested in your hangover. Headache, sensitivity to light and noise, upset stomach, etc. etc.
Solution: Drink plenty of water / gatorade before you crash out after a night of heavy drinking. Easy, huh.
I honestly wouldn’t know. No matter how drunk I get I drink a lot of water throughout the night and I remain hangover free the next day.
This is gross, but I couldn’t have drank a ton of water last night.. because any liquids that were going down… were coming back up. Hah. I don’t even want to drink right now!!! blehhhh! Thanks for your answers though. I’ll try to force some water down.
loottssss of gatorade. and a healthy breakfast. (toast, bacon, eggs, fruit)
hangover’s are a result from dehydration and a lack of nutrition in your blood, so you need to replenish it. once you do, you’re hangover will go away shortly after.
rest, rest, rest. fruit, toast, and water always helps me. But, I agree with the previous answers in that if I try to drink water while drinking alcohol, and that usually keeps me hangover-free.
Back in the bad old days when I used to drink, I, too, consumed plenty of water, and I also tried to take in some Vitamin C. That seemed to work pretty well.
However, I must admit that since I stopped drinking alcohol altogether I no longer have hangovers.
What in Heaven’s name are you doing drinking something that is both green and an egregious spelling error? That was your first mistake.
@Darwin hahahha I KNOW!!! My friend brought it over last night.. ugh. Never again.
There’s no greater cure than prevention.
@jenna – Actually I Googled it and discovered that it is 18 proof (red and blue) or 19.8 proof (orange, purple, and jungle) so you would be better off sticking to lite beer (6 to 12 proof).
IV fluids and B vitamins, if you have access.
@Darwin Yeah, we had ‘Jungle Joose.’ I’ve never heard of it before she brought it over. She didn’t even finish hers. I don’t know WHY in the world I did. I woke up this morning and was like, ‘never drinking again.’ But I always say that. hah.
@syz
pff, nothing, NOTHING beats and IV when your head is pounding! Two bags of Ringer and you’re good to go!
@Judi we don’t have that around here :(
No Jamba Juice??? You must live in the sticks!! ~
I used to pour myself a nice big bowl of Froot Loops and instead of milk, I’d pour beer in the bowl and slam it down. It made my hangover go away! Now that I’m older and wiser, I just drink plenty of water and prevent them from happening.
@Judi they don’t have any in ohio :(
Got a Kiva Juice? I like them better than Jamba Juice.
Never heard of Kiva Juice
Too bad. Surely someone in Ohio makes healthy smoothies.
Theres this place called Smoothie King. It’s alright. The best is 40 min. away in the city I work in called Pulp. yummm!
Sugar and fluids… i suggest a high carb breakfast (Grand slam anyone?) and a LOT of gatorade.
Sleep, sleep, sleep. Eat if you can keep it down.
I have several Hispanic friends and they have all told me that eating Menudo is very good way to help with recovering from a hangover.
It’s not something that I’m ever going to try but it’s just a suggestion for everyone else.
The number one way to avoid a hangover is to not get drunk.
The number two way to avoid a hangover is to not sober up.
A little hair of the dog that bit you usually helps. (i.e., have one drink when you wake up hungover) I usually try to eat and take some headache medicine before I fall asleep, just to be sure.
