General Question

I purchased a jacket online and the company accidently left the anti-theft ink tag inside the pocket. Is this thing gonna explode on me?

Asked by juniper (1910points) April 6th, 2009

I’d rather not send the jacket all the way back to the store and wait for them to return it to me. My question is: will the ink-tag explode if I drop the jacket or step on the tag or something? Or do they only explode if you actually remove the tag?

The worst part is that it seems that I’m wearing stolen clothing. Awesome.

Call the store and have them send you a new one with a prepaid return box. That way you can wear the one you have until the new one comes.

I’m going to try to have a store remove it for me. I don’t have much of a receipt, though, just an email. I don’t want to look shady! Distress!

Juniper, my love, you’re back!

I don’t know a solution to your problem, it’s just been a while since I’ve seen you here. :)

@KatawaGrey, I am! And I was just thinking about you today as I was watching Season 7 of Buffy. Mixed feelings, here, but I’m still only halfway through.

Erm, I should probably save the Buffy talk for a different thread. So much to discuss, though. Ha!

Well, whatever issues you had in the past, I’m glad you’re back. :)

I got a gift one time and it had the tag on it, I took it to the mall to have a store take it off, but alot of stores have different types, so I couldn’t find one that worked. You might have better luck doing what @missingbite suggested.

Wait for the inevitable tie dye comeback?

I’m pretty sure they only put ink sensors on in-store products, and products sold online are never stocked in a store but in a warehouse. Not throwing accusations, just saying…

@BBSDTfamily, wow. I am 100% sure that they do put them in online stuff, since I bought something online and it has an ink-tag inside. I also called the store today and explained what happened, and they didn’t seem surprised.

Not throwing accusations? Yeeeah.

Lame.

Smaller stores in particular will cycle old stock once it’s past the retail shelf life as the online catalog can be much larger (it just sits in the warehouse instead of taking up shelf space) and it can’t be put back out once it’s past season.

@BBSDTfamily If you need to explain that you’re not throwing accusations than it sort of implies you knew it would sound like one.

@artificialard, yeah, Mountain Gear is small and has only one retail location, I think. And the jacket was on sale, big time. Clearly, there are exceptions to BBSDTfamily’s observation.

Take it how you like, just my opinion.

Now I get the last word! Ha!
