Where Do You Get Your Information When Considering Which Candidate to Vote For?

Asked by BBSDTfamily (6839points) April 6th, 2009

Do you trust what you hear on the news? Do you read each candidate’s official websites? Do you look at voting records? Do you vote for a other reasons such as race, sex, family status, military status?

If they served in the government previously, I look at how they voted or what they were involved in. Debates, town hall discussions, and tv interviews can be great if the right questions are being asked of the candidates. ontheissues.org is good. But, I like to hear stuff straight from their mouths which is why I prefer the interviews.

Well, I don’t always have the time to do a lot of research, but there is one website which is amazing. www.ontheissues.org is where I got most of my information before the election.

Damn you ubersiren, you beat me to it! :)

Regardless of voting issue, I try to always get my information from reliable sources like FactCheck.org, Politifact.com and Snopes.com.

Over time I look at various news reports and try to follow the information that shows up online. Sometimes I engage in discussions with family members (that’s like quicksand) and eventually come up with a fairly good idea.

I get almost all of my information from the internet. Basically, I do a google search and see what comes up.

I read from people who love and from people who hate the candidate. I’ll read from their own campaign literature and from the tinfoil hats. It all tells me something. I talk to people about what they’re feeling, especially older people.
