I’ve done it without any problems. I’ve even eaten it myself. It just depends on the temperature/humidity in the kitchen over night. I smelled it first. I wouldn’t recommend trying this at home, though.
I wouldn’t, but cats do eat odd things and survive.
My chihuahua dug up some sparrow jerky that I had buried in the compost pile six months earlier.
And I have recently seen some tiny organs (mouse-sized kidneys and liver) on a a rug at a friend’s house. He owns two cats. No other traces of the mouse, however, but the grins on Gryph’s and Luca’s faces.
Pets can get sick from eating spoiled food, and just like humans, sometimes they are lucky, but that is not a reason to feed them on purpose. Human food contains too much fat and can lead to pancreatitus in pets.
Many people feed their dogs food that is on the “avoid” list provided by the ASPA, but I would not.
Yes. As long as you pre-chew it for them.
to blondesjon: lol
Thanks guys, I think I’ll chuck it to be on the safe side..
They eat raw mice. Why not. :)
to gailcalled – my cat has been leaving bits and pieces of (I’m guessing mice and big rats) in my new flatmates room every day since she moved in….flatmate not impressed…..I think its hilarious…
seventhsense – that went through my mind, but then it was cooked (med/rare) and left out, so I wasn’t too sure…
@MrsShifter…No problem. Great set up, er, question. :)
Welcome to Fluther.
@MrsShifter You can also recook it to kill any new bacteria. You say it’s medium rare, now; bring it to well done, or use a probe to check the proper temp.
thanks blondesjon! :)
ru2bz46 – Ah OK…the thought of recooking meat feels so wrong…..
I do have a bbq fork with a temperature thingy on it…..I might try recooking it…
I think one night being left out should be ok. Just heat it up, in case…. :)
I know a pussy that eats tube steak very rare.
@SeventhSense : Predictable, overused and so unfunny after a 1000 different versions, that I can hardly keep from weeping.
