Is there any way to clean salt and snow stained boots?

I just bought new black boots this winter, i didn’t buy protective spray (which i regret now) and now there are salt and snow stains all over the top of them! Is there any way to clean them?

as a transplanted southerner to the great midwest i was told that you have to remove salt from leather shoes as soon as you take them off. i was also surprised to learn that the term “rubbers” had a meaning totally novel to me )

also i seem to recall wiping them down with vinegar was supposed to be helpful…i would double check that though because sounds wrong
