Are you making an effort to be an eco-conscious consumer? How?
I made it my resolution to reduce my carbon footprint this year by among other things, buying more earth friendly products. I’m wondering how much global warming guilt others have and what steps they’re taking to ease up on the environment. Tips and advice are all welcome!

Yes, I am and always have. I was brought up a third generation anti-consumer. I practice Do It Yourself, Make Do, Do Without in my daily life, and I brought up my sons and grandsons the same way.
I buy meat & chicken from the butcher shop, no plastic trays or wrap, just brown paper. I rarely buy prepared foods, they always come in all sorts of plastic wraps, trays whatever. I use cloth bags for grocery shopping, use them over and over (http://www.ecosilkbags.com.au/) All vegetable waste, peelings, brown leaves are tossed into a container in the freezer, once a week or so they are nuked and tossed into the food processor and that is what I feed my dogs along with raw meat so no dog food cans or bags. I use almost all fresh veg so again no plastic freezer bags or boxes or cans. We make too much rubbish, we should all try to reduce our rubbish production.
I’m trying to do my part, too. I carry reusable bags into stores instead of taking plastic bags home. Cotton produce bags are used instead of plastic, too. I recycle as much as possible. I refill safe plastic water bottles for work, and use a stainless bottle on my own time. I gave up soda and cut out all those extra cans, bottles, and paper or plastic cups. We rarely eat meat, so styro trays aren’t an issue. I also have a scooter that gets over 70 MPG for when the temps are above freezing. I write a lot at work, and opt for two of the more expensive refillable pens instead of using cheaper disposables.
