I always ask my sister to bring brownies. She always wants me to bring guacamole. What dish are you known for?

Lasagna. It’s filled with extra cheesy, mozzie goodness. Abbondanza!
Cheesecake! It’s never pretty, but it tastes like heaven in a mouth.
The men want the potato dish I make, very creamy..:)
My girl friends love the multicolor salad I make it has everything in it from pine nuts to little bits of dried apricot.
When we go to a bbq with friends I am told to bring these..:D
The vegie tray or a bag of chips (they know I don’t cook much.)
@Zen – Er, it’s, uh, Mario Batali’s. With a little extra wine in the ragù and a little bit more cheese. Just a little. The béchamel is already quite rich. Grazie, Signore Batali, mille grazie!
Pesto (over chicken, steak or pasta…or seafood – depends on their mood), fresh salsa, bruschetta, creamy spinach beef soup
They never ask me to bring anything.
Eggrolls. Understandably, since they’re delicious :].
German potato salad. It really is the best.
@elijahsuicide I love potato salad and have never made it – what’s a good recipe please?
I thought of PMing you, but figured I’d share the recipe with the good jellies.
Well at first they thought it was weird, then they tried it and fell in love. My cream cheese, chicken, teriyaki dip.
- Mix a tablespoon of minced garlic in with a block of cream cheese and spread it out over a platter.
– Sprinkle shredded chicken (cooked) all over
– Sprinkle chives all over
– (Peanuts are optional, I don’t use them)
– Then, what makes it crazy good is the teriyaki glaze. Not the sauce, but the thick, syrupy glaze. Drizzle that all over.
– Eat it with wheat thins or sesame crackers.
You’re welcome in advance.
@Zen I don’t really measure stuff anymore, but I have a recipe somewhere. I will look for it and get back to you. A warning though- it is an extremely unhealthy dish. It doesn’t taste good if you try to “healthy it up” LOL.
The wine. Always the wine.
My artichoke cheese spread:
- 1 can of artichoke hearts
– 1 cup of parmesan cheese
Whirl up together in food processor until smooth-ish, then zap in the microwave for 1 min. so the cheese gets all melty. Spread on pumpernickel bread.
So yummy – and the easiest thing ever!
My husaband is always asked for his gucamole; I’m always asked for my brownies.
So I guess we can both come to you party, Filmfann!
My mom has a cute one when she throws herself a birthday party: your presence, not your presents, is what’s required.
Dessert. Cake, cheesecake, cookies, pies, ice cream. It’s great, because dessert is my favorite thing to make. I’ve got the entire family well trained, so they never ask me to bring a salad or appetizer. :)
They generally don’t ask me to bring much of anything except for my husband. They like him better than me.
Wine – definitely the Wine! But frequently whatever I want to bring – I think my friends like my cooking!
I’m always asked to bring my peanut butter cookies or lemon bars. There are never any left to bring home, so I usually make an extra batch just for us.
My family loves my husband’s guacomole. He is also the one that does all the grilling now.
I almost always bringa dessert. I’m best at baking.
@elijahsuicide I have a dessert recipe that is like that. My sister is always trying to healthy it up, and ruins it. It’s not supposed to be healthy! It’s dessert!
The Mad Dog Dip (a guacamole): Mix together
6 avocados
1 chopped large white onion
2 tablespoons of crushed garlic
1/2 finely chopped serano pepper
Stir in:
2 chopped tomatos
salt to taste (usually a full tablespoon)
Cilantro, if you like that.
Use tortilla chips. Be prepared to bring it to every party thrown by anyone who has had it.
I know it seems like a lot of onions, but it works.
My friends usually ask me to not bring anything unless it is store-bought.
Deviled Eggs made with bacon and cheddar cheese.
