The stories in the Law And Order series collection, are they realistic?
I mean, all the stories then made, are they inspired by true crimes that actually happened in the US? Or are there some of the stories that are mere fiction?

I know some of them are based on true stories but I don’t think all of them are.
who knows but they are AWESOME…I can’t get enough, I could watch them all day lol. At the end they always say the stories are fictional but I bet some of those could have actually happened.
It’s not that realistic of a show but it has fair entertainment value. I like SVU more than the others, but Jerry Orbach was good.
In any event they do a lot of original material but yeah they absolutely love to indulge their “ripped from the headlines” tag.
Some of them are based off of actual occurrences but most of them are fictitious. If you watch the start of some of the episodes, it will say something to the effect of “the story you are about to see was inspired by real events”.
I miss Jerry Orbach and Jesse Martin (Lennie Briscoe and Ed Green). The series is different without them. The episodes are fictional, but they are based on real life police work. Police officers in Trinidad and Tobago are Law and Order fans.
Some of the stories are based on actual cases, and if there’s one that’s especially notorious that has been on the news a lot, there is a disclaimer at the beginning of the program so that they don’t get sued by anyone who is involved in the real-life case:
“Although inspired in part by a true incident, the following story is fictional and does not depict any actual person or event.”
Many are inspired by true stories and you can usually get the background issue from the Law & Order wiki:

Last spring, my partner and I decided we wanted to watch and blog every episode. We only made it through the first 11, but there were pretty clear ties to real life cases for all of those. I’m hoping to get back to the blog soon (http://www.blawg-and-order.com)
