Custom XP install question?

Asked by Ownage (296points) April 11th, 2009

Ok basically I have a Dell Inspirion 1525 with an SATA HDD. By default AHCI mode is enabled in the BIOS (as stock Vista likes AHCI and works just fine w\ it). I have partitioned my HDD to house XP. When I try to install XP however I get the error

“Windows XP could not find any hard disks”

Now I tried putting all the driver files on a blank CD and pressing f6, but that did not work (XP prompted to load the drivers into drive A, which seems kind of odd considering this laptop dosent have a FDD).

Anyway I have read to disable AHCI mode, and set it to IDE. Too bad considering I don’t have IDE mode, and changing it to SATA mode woulden’t make much of a difference.

Also I do not want to have to change HDD modes every time I want to use XP or Vista. I want XP to work w\ AHCI mode. Anyone know of a way to get this done??

NOTE: I have tried creating a custom XP CD using nLite and loading the drivers onto that but failed.
