Would you rather be taken seriously all the time, or be considered a flake and a joke?

I’d pick the latter. Easily. Serious all the time is exhausting, however, a balance would be nice. Where are my meds? Please don’t moderate me anymore – I can’t take it….!

Well I am considered a joke sort of and I do it well if I do say so myself . . .and I do. But it’s not all its cracked up to be all the time because if and when I decide to be serious no one really listens. So a balance would be nice but hard to achieve.
I would vote the latter as well. Then, when I do something serious it wow’s people and makes them think better of me. Plus i love laughter, whether it be my own or someone else’s.
I’d like to be considered a serious flake.
Kellogg’s has some serious flakes, man. Ask Zappa.
I’m going to have to go with the former choice on this question. I think, for me anyway, that being taken seriously carries more weight and is more meaningful than being looked upon as a flake or a joke. I’ve worked too hard to get where I am in life to be considered less than what I am because my accomplishments define my successes.
Ideally, it would be nice to have a good balance of seriousness and levity for a well rounded experience, if I had that choice.
You should care LESS what people think.
@Mr_M I care what you think, is that alright, Sir?
I try very hard to not care what other people think, but personally it gets very old knowing that none of your friends takes you seriously. I would like to have a balance between the two, because no one wants to be around someone who is serious and “not any fun” all the time. And if you are just considered a flake then no one takes you or your opinions seriously or respects you.
I’d rather be taken seriously. It may be exhausting for you to be serious all the time, but it’s exhausting for everyone else to be around someone who’s always a joke.
I have a very serious mind. Unfortunatly, I have a Groucho Marx mouth.
The mouth entertains me a lot more.
why are those two mutually exclusive? they’re not
and i want to be taken seriously when i want to be taken seriously
and as someone who’s silly when i’m silly
after all we’re not bread or butter
but are bread on butter
and we taste good that way

@Zen Gosh, I have to assume you’re joking…
Strange how you read something about yourself into my comment…
@Likeradar You’re playing too shallow. Move back, or more balls will go over you’re head.
Nicely played, Zen.
@filmfann I answer a question and it’s a personal attack? When people read things about themselves into things I say that aren’t necessarily about the, the problem is not with me.
Zen asked a question. I answered it. How dare I…
@Likeradar You are missing the point. His response was tongue in cheek.
No, he didn’t actually have his tongue in his cheek. No, I don’t think it was in yours either.
Okay, you know how a joke stops being funny when someone explains it?
Alas, it doesn’t matter now. It’s been excised. Sorry Zen.
He writes that long comment bashing me and it’s tongue in cheek? Ha ha?
Yeah, I’d rather be serious all the time. Definitely.
(((Hugs all around. I really lurve this website, and all of you wonderful, unique, minds)))
Had to, well then the choice would be for serious mode because I like people to be comfortable knowing where they stand with me, how I view the world around me and most importantly, what actions they can expect from me.
Side question: For the brave of heart, and honest people: When you see a question that challenges your senses and perceptions, and you haven’t had anything to drink – do you still dive in, or give it a pass. Also, do you decide to answer depending on “who” asked the question?
I’d rather be taken seriously. There’s something about respect that trumps a good laugh.
