What can happen if you wear contact lens longer than specified?
I use lens that can be worn for a month and a half, and approx. 10 hours a day. I usually tend to wear them some 12 hours, but last night, I forgot to take them out. Can there be some permanent damage if this happens more than once?

You can read about the effects here.
You run the risk of serious eye infections and permanent damage.
If you keep it up it can require surgery.
Don’t fuck around with your vision.
I went blind once, I had a 5% chance of ever seeing again.
Take it from me, you do not fuck with your eyes.
EDIT: Changed the link.
Nasty infections and blindness. I second @asmonet, do not mess with your eyes.
There is a possibility (however small) that by doing so you can also disrupt the revolution of the earth around the sun. You’ve been warned.
Please don’t do that….my husband use to wear contact lenses the disposable ones and use to wear then for more than a month at a time and even slept with them in at times…...then a few years ago he got very sore eyes and went to his optometrist who said he had an ulcer on his cornea and that if he had left it he would have had permanent damage to his eye.
Fortunately his cornea grew back (they regenerate every 24 hours) and a few months later got eye correction surgery…
I wear contacts that can be left in for a month without removal. I have pushed it to a month and a half because I figure there is a margin of safety built in. I have yet to have any serious problems but the key word is yet.
I wore contacts for 15 years and I left them in for a week at a time, I thought, nothings going to happen to me. Then one day it hurt and I went to the eye doctor, I had these little bumps on my eyes from too much wear, I couldn’t wear contacts again. So, be very careful and don’t make it a habit.
I leave mine in for months at a time. My eyes get really irritated, and I had to take them out for a month straight, because my eyes were just super irritated, and painful.
I don’t recommend it. But, I do it myself lol
My cousin once left his in a for a week straight without taking them out, not during even sleep. Let’s just say it was a very painful removal process for him.
Well, just once you’ll be OK. I slept in mine once, woke up with sore eyes, but other than that I was fine once I learned to read braille!
