Androids are human-like robots. Is that what you’re looking for?
Damn, asmonet. Where did you come from? When I started writing it said I was the only one on this thread.
no not androids, it is not a type of robot, but that creepy feeling you get when they almost look like humans but you know they are not. the phrase is sometimes used in science fiction books/movies but it is still relevant is “real” life
Resemble physically or “mentally?”
no not sentience, we we are getting close.
It is when a robot looks and acts human, however they are missing “something”. maybe its too much eye contact or pragmatics, its hard to put your finger on it. but since you are human you just know they aren’t.
A.I.? Artificial intelligence?
of yes the uncanny!!! thats what I was thinking of. Thank you!
Here are several definitions of uncanny. It can be used for anything that seems too <something> to be natural, such as (in a human being) an uncanny ability to predict changes in the weather. In other words, beyond nature (supernatural).
“Canny” means “shrewd” or “astute,” such as someone who is very canny in making bargains. It’s related to “can” or “ken” in the sense of knowing. I therefore take “uncanny” to mean literally “beyond knowing,” or “mysterious.”
In California, we call them Republicans.
I have cheeto’s that look like fingers
@filmfann My fingers sometimes look like Cheeto’s. Especially after eating Cheeto’s.
Don’t make the mistake I did of falling asleep in front of the TV after watching porn and eating Cheetos.
[Mod says] Let’s try to stay on topic, folks.
There’s also the term gynoid, a female humanoid robot (android). @AstroChuck – I thought some cylons resemble frakking toasters.
Oh! Oh! I got it! Moderators!
Heh.
