Do you use Remember the Milk, and, if so, do you find it useful?

Asked by eponymoushipster (20307points) April 12th, 2009

i have an account, but i don’t really see how it differs from using, say, Google Calendar with notifications. Any tips or tricks that you use with RTM? Why do you like it or not like it?

I too have an account there but have yet to discover it’s worth. Like you said, google calendar and tasks work equally well and that’s one less account to worry about. It’s true that RTM can notify you in several ways such as IM, but their notifications have always been buggy for me at least. I’ll let others provide the tips/tricks but I’ll have to go with I don’t like it since I don’t see anything unique about it. Maybe I am just unaware of all the cool features.

I am not a huge fan of the site. I don’t find it not useful but I don’t really find it incredibly useful. I really like Things for Mac OS X!

I tried it last year when it came out as an app for iPhone, and even paid the $25. I was hoping to use it as a tool to combat procrastination. I wound up traveling a lot last year and never really did get into using it. At this point my upgraded subscription has expired, and I don’t really see myself signing up again.

It is an excellent tool if you have access to the internet on the fly (if not, I suggest getting a good ol’ paper agenda). I check my RTM taks in the morning, lunch, and afternoon and that seems often enough. If you’re all about GTD (“Getting Things Done”), then I suggest this site (a nice intro to GTD with remember the milk).

Also: tweak Google calendar to show a drop-down menu of all tasks for a particular day (and add/complete task from the same menu). See this link.

One more feature I like: store often visited places and connect these places to tasks through Google maps. Hope this helped a little bit!

I prefer an actual planner/agenda. Nothing feels better to me than scratching out tasks I’ve completed with my pen. I do use ToodleDo for things not related to school or work, though. I like the interface better than RTM and sometimes I update it with tasks via my phone when I forget my planner.
